Petanque Australia reaccredited as the National Sporting Organisation for petanque in Australia

Petanque Australia has been reaccredited by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) as the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for petanque in Australia for the next 10 years.

This recognition comes as result of the Special General Meeting of Petanque Australia members held on 17 June 2026 to approve changes to the Petanque Australia Constitution.

Among the changes to the Constituion were changes to the composition of the PA Board and nomination processes to ensure a better gender balance and provisions for the appointment of 4 Directors, because of their special business acumen and/or technical skills, in addition to 5 Directors elected by the members at our Annual General Meetings.

These changes are in line with the ASC's Sports Governance Standards that have been designed to ensure that every NSO Board has a diverse mix of skills, expertise and experience in order to meet the strategic goals of the organisation and that a broad skills matrix, which aligns with their strategic goals, is utilised when identifying directors for elected and appointed positions.

The PA Board currently has 5 elected Directors and over the next few months work will commence on identifying candidates with special business acumen and/or technical skills to be appointed to fill the 4 appointed Director positions on the Board.
